Mariposa Motel sits quietly on S Mariposa Ave in the heart of Los Angeles’ Koreatown. It is a modest lodging option, carrying a 3.6 rating that reflects its straightforward appeal. This motel is clearly designed with the budget-conscious traveler in mind — those who seek a simple and functional place to rest without frills or lofty expectations.
The rooms are small and practical. Guests note that while the air conditioning can struggle to cool adequately, the spaces remain clean and private. Beds tend to be firm, providing just enough comfort for a night’s sleep. The motel’s western and Indian ownership brings a warm cultural blend to the service, with staff who speak both English and Spanish fluently—an invaluable trait in this diverse neighborhood.
Parking is a challenge for larger vehicles, given the narrow space available, and the motel does lack some modern conveniences like an on-site restaurant, fitness center, or airport shuttle. Free Wi-Fi and free parking are offered, though some guests have mentioned connectivity issues. Despite these deficits, the attentive and quick-to-help staff earn frequent praise, consistently elevating the guest experience.
Beyond the motel’s walls, Mariposa Motel’s prime location shines. It places guests steps away from Koreatown’s vibrant nightlife, dotted with lively Korean BBQ joints, karaoke bars, and cultural landmarks like the Wiltern Theatre. This adds significant value, turning the motel into an affordable base for exploration rather than just a place to sleep.
In sum, Mariposa Motel may not boast luxury or spaciousness, but it represents an honest, budget-friendly haven in one of LA’s most dynamic neighborhoods. It’s well-suited for travelers who prioritize location, warmth, and practicality over high-end amenities. For those seeking a clean, simple stay close to buzzing nightlife and authentic cultural experiences, Mariposa Motel quietly delivers.

Small hotel rooms. Indian owners i believe, nice people and they speak good spanish and english as well. This place is for those in a budget. Don't expect anything fancy. No Wi-Fi acces like other hotels and A/C doesn't really cool the room. Beds are little stiff and won't give you the best sleep but does the job. Parking is super narrow so big trucks or suvs won't fit or have a really hard time parking and getting out. Located in a ok neighborhood. Like i said...its a budget hotel so condition of the place and neighborhood aren't the best. Located in a good distance to go to universal studios and famous street where people who have made a different over the years have a star named after them on the street.
Great motel! The employees are really nice. Affordable price!
Very friendly staff who were very attentive and unbelievably quick to resolve any issues we had. For less than $70 in Korea town, very near food and attractions, it's a steal!

Festive late-night destination with many Korean BBQ joints & karaoke bars, plus the Wiltern Theatre.

Short, honest notes are more useful than long ones. A few sentences about what worked, what surprised you, and who the hotel is best for will go a long way.
